The question i got in my practice exam was ';The hospital departments budget of $660,000 for three months is allocated between staffing, medical equipment and administration in the ratio of 6:3:1. How much does each area recieve?
Can someone please help me out with a detailed answer or explanation of how to do this?
ThanksHow do you split an amount of money in the ratio of 6:3:1 ? Help me with my maths!?
You have a total amount of 660,000 to be split up 6:3:1
Let x be the amount that the administration (1) gets
6x + 3x + x = 660,000
10x = 660000
x = 66000
Staffing gets $396,000
Medical equip gets $198,000
Administration gets $66,000
How do you split an amount of money in the ratio of 6:3:1 ? Help me with my maths!?
let x be the amount that the administration gets, then
medical equipment gets 3 times x = 3x; staffing gets 6x
in all we hage x +3x +6x = 10x
x = 660,000/10 = $66,000 (this is for administration)
Equipment = 3x = 3*66,000 =$198,000
Staffing gets 6x = 6*66,000 =$396,000
The first thing to do is add the three components together (6+3+1 = 10). This means that there are ten parts total (100%), and that 1 is 10% of the total. So, 6 parts of the total (60%) is $396,000, 3 parts of the total (30%) is $198,000, and 1 part of the total (10%) is $66,000.
Ratio is 6:3:1
6+3+1=10 (10 parts)
one tenth of $660,000
$660,000/10= $66,000
so, one part = $66,000
$66,000 x 6 = $396,000
$66,000 x 3 = $198,000
$66,000 x 1 = $66,000
Double check by adding all of your parts and making sure they add up to the whole ($396,000 + $198,000 + $66,000 = $660,000)
Answer:
$396,000: $198,000: $66,000
6x + 3x + x = 660,000
10x = 660,000
x = 66,000
ANSWER:
6x = 6(66,000) = $396,000 for staffing
3x = 3(66,000) = $198,000 for medical equipment
x = 66,000 = $66,000 for administration
add 6, 3, 1 which is ten
Now 6/10 goes to staffing and so on.
