How do i mend my split-ends?

I have had a history of hair fall which has now been cured of course but that resulted in the decrease in volume of my hair. Now my hair is rapidly lengthening but the ends remain entangled dry and have split-ends even after regular care and conditioning. Can someone suggest a cure?

Thanks and a Happy New Year to all.How do i mend my split-ends?
1. Chop off the split ends - they hamper hair growth, make hair brittle, look shabby and cause more entangling.

2. oil and condition - use hair oil atleast once a week, a combination of castor, coconut and almond oil (1:0.5:0.5) is very beneficial specially during winters. After washing, use a good conditioner. Conditioning and oiling shows no scientific evidence to hair growth, but definitely do have a moisturizing effect.

3. Detangle hair when partly dry after washing

4. Eat a protein rich diet.

5. Applying Mehndi / henna once is good. though the smell is bad, but adding egg to the henna, conditions and nourishes hair.

Happy new year........%26amp; Hair to u!!!How do i mend my split-ends?
periodic trimming is the best way
Keep trimming the ends.
noting more than a haircut.... n as for mending.... a needle n some thread? ;)
a haircut!
trim your hair
trim them regularly and don't use styling products r curler or a straightener too often..... coconut milk helps in reducing the split end.......
theres not ';cure'; to split ends, they need to be cut off completely for your hair to be normal again.
trim dem off...
chop 'em off! sorry, but thats really the only way to take care of them. To prevent them in the future, make sure to use tons of extremely moisturizing conditioner, especially on your ends. don't blow dry your hair, don't brush it while it's wet, don't use rubber scrunchies. also, look into deep conditioning once a week. egg yolks and olive oil for about 30 min. are a good home remedy.
you cant really cure split ends, so i suggest getting them cut off. hope that helps! :)
Some causes include:

Excessive use of hot styling tools (irons, hot curlers, blow dryers, hot combs).

Overuse of chemical treatments (relaxers, perms, hair color).

Use of inferior styling tools that rip or snag hair (cheap synthetic brushes or combs, brush rollers, etc.,).

Environmental damage from heat, cold, wind and other climate issues.

Lack of routine maintenance such as regular trimming.

Improper detangling techniques.

Overwashing.

Use of inferior hair care products.

Excessive use of styling products such as gels, waxes and sprays.

Trimming with inferior scissors.

There are other causes for split ends beside some of the main ones mentioned above. Other causes could be excessive tangling, improper application or removal of hair extensions, headgear that snaps or rips delicate strands or even scratchy bedclothes, fingers or hands.

Half of the cure for split ends is prevention:

Don't brush your hair too much, and be sure to use brushes and combs with smooth, wide-set teeth; avoid nylon bristles. And no matter what, don't brush wet hair! If you have knots, use a wide-toothed comb or your fingers to gently detangle from the ends up, one section at a time.

Elastic bands -- even the covered ones -- and barrettes can cause breakage. If you put your hair in a ponytail, use a scrunchie; when wearing barrettes, take care not to catch hair in the metal clip.

Of course, a trim will rid you of split ends instantly. In the meantime, a split-end treatment, a leave-in conditioner with light hold or a pomade applied to the ends can temporarily seal the splits.
The only way you get rid of split ends is to cut your hair. The longer you put off cutting your hair the more hair will have to be cut. If you are tryin to grow your hair small trims off the ends make it grow alot faster.
happy new year to u too

you can only try to prevent split ends.. but once you have them you can only remove them. trim your ends or get a hair cut to get rid of your split ends. to prevent them, comb your hair with a wide-tooth comb.. don't brush your hair. brushing causes split ends. try a deep conditioner once a week.. like kerastase masquintense. and also invest in a good leave in conditioner, pay special attention to conditioning your ends.
you cant fix split ends but get a little trim every 6 weeks for at least a while to get yer hair back to its old healthiness. use a leave-in conditioner once a week too. i use a paul mitchell one %26amp; its great. really good brand. %26amp; use mineral-packed shampoo %26amp; conditioner %26amp; possibly hair products that add volume. try not to use hairdryers or curling irons or other heating things on yer hair whenever you can, like the weekends. good luck!
go to saloon and get it cut off
I would answer this one myself but this article is so good that would not do justice.

The only way to get rid of split ends is to trim them.

If you're wanting healthier hair....then read the following..;)

Everyone's hair grows an average of an half an inch a month. If you wait more than 4-5 weeks to trim the split ends off....eventually they break off. When that happens you break off more than the half inch you grew.

However, if you trim the very ends every 4 weeks to prevent the breakage from occuring in the first place...you will keep most of that half inch you grow every month. Combine that with a salon shampoo and conditioner....and you can get 6 or more inches of healthy hair every year.

The biggest trick is finding that special hairdresser than will only trim the very tips. If you explain what you're doing...they should work with you of getting the length to where you want it. The other thing in growing your hair out is to always grow from style to style....not length to length. That way you're never going to be bored with your hair and be tempted to cut it off...;)

Always use professional products, they are formulated to not buildup on the hair as fast and to actually strengthen the hairshaft. There is no magic to getting long hair. You can try all the little concoctions people suggest....but the bottom line is you hair will grow from the root no matter what you do to the already grown hair. Once the hair has left the follicle...it's consider dead keratin protien. You just need to treat it right so it stays looking nice.
The easiest fix would be to have a trim. You can't ';mend'; split ends, but you can prevent them.
The only way to fix split ends is to trim them. It's not like it's the end of the world if you trim 1/4 in. of you hair...
♥Do not brush your hair when it is wet. Instead, use a wide-tooth comb, and apply a leave-in conditioner for extra protection.

♥ Limit your use of heat-styling appliances such as blow dryers or flat irons. When you are using them, opt for lower-heat settings and use a heat-protectant styling crème. These products are designed to be used with heat appliances to both smooth the cuticle and protect the hair from heat.

♥Avoid pulling the hair out of pony-tail holders without undoing the elastic. Always unwrap the elastic from the hair, rather than tugging the hair out of the elastic.

♥When outside, always protect your hair from sunlight with an SPF product designed specifically for hair, or wear a hat. Or better yet—both!

♥To preserve the hairs natural oils, try and limit washing the hair to just two-three times per week, rather than daily.

♥Avoid aggressively brushing the hair and finally,

♥Try sleeping in a silk pillowcase.

and Try This...I hope it helps!
