This is for split unit only

Outside

Compressor

Condenser fan

Condenser coil

Reversing Valve

Expansion Valve

Inside (much simpler)

Fan

Fan-coil

Drip tray

Temperature sensor/control panel

Copper tube is in both, and links the two coils together, as well as electrical wiring. In a split air conditioner, among these components which are in outdoor and which are in indoor?
Well, the expansion valve and the evaporator are the ';cold'; side exchanger where the house air is cooled. Naturally, these would normally be in the house for a split system.

The compressor and the condenser are at the hot side where heat is dumped into the outdoors. These need to be outdoors. Even in a window unit this part has to hang outdoors to dump the heat picked up in the house.
Evap and Expansion Valve will be in the house. Condensor, compressor will be outdoors. Not sure about the cooper tube though.
would have not a clue
