How to fix shot gun barrel its A 410 and the end of the barrel is split 1 1/2 down what the best fix?

my buddy lent his 410 to his nephew and I think the kid shot into water how in the world do you split A gun barrel with like clay pidgeon shot? How to fix shot gun barrel its A 410 and the end of the barrel is split 1 1/2 down what the best fix?
first, if the barrel will remain longer than 18 1/2'; with the split section removed, it can be cut down, The choke will no longer be the same, basically it will be an ';open'; choke, meaning it will lose pattern density sooner with the shot spreading faster. And the shorter the barrel, the less effective it will be for hunting. Also, the front bead site will have to be re installed, which is very easy. Or, you can have the barrel replaced.

Either way, I would make the ';kid'; pay for the repair, and agree to attend a hunter safety course. How to fix shot gun barrel its A 410 and the end of the barrel is split 1 1/2 down what the best fix?
If the split is very near to the muzzle end of the barrel then you may be able to have it cut down and re threaded to fit the choke tubes.

If it was me i would not risk injury by using that barrel I would buy a new one and charge that kid for it.

Never let that kid borrow anything of yours again and NEVER go near him if he has a gun. He obviously has no respect for gun safety and is going to end up shooting himself or somebody else sooner or later
If it were my shotgun, I'd bring it to a gunsmith. Maybe it's just me, but I wont play around when it comes to something that might explode in my face the next time I shoot.

The nice thing about bringing it to a gunsmith is they can also clean it up and lube parts that otherwise wouldn't get the attention that your buddy would give it in a routine cleaning.
';end of the barrel is split 1 1/2 down';, You may want to be more clear about what ';1 1/2 down means'; if you would like to get some suggestions. Before I even get the clarification, have you considered a gunsmith?
It can happen, probably got some dirt in the end. You'll need to take it to a gun smith to check out. He may be able to salvage it by trimming the barrel, the gun will never be the same though.
I would replace the barrel and make the kid pay for it.

As for how he did it?

You could just ask the kid and and tell him if he tells you the truth you will cut some of the cost off
The visible split is only part of the stressed metal. There is more stress along the length that you won't be able to see.

The best cure here is to replace the barrel.
you cant fix it except replacing the barrel. i would buy a top of the line .410 and make the kid pay.
Wow.

You need to destroy that thing immediately.

It's not safe.
Either start with a gunsmith or try www.gunpartscorp.com
HIT IT REALLY HARD OR USE SUPER GLUE!!!!!!
